Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) today has organised protest against poor quality of railway infrastructure in Mumbai. The rally is going to start from Metro Theatre to Churchgate at 11.30am sharp. However, Thackeray has not got the permission for the protest from the police.

The tight police security is arrange at Churchgate station. All the station are covered under barigades.

It is reported that MNS chief Raj Thackeray will join the rally and he has urged Mumbaikars to join the rally as well. He posted a message on his Facebook page to join the rally.


Thackeray has said that he will himself participate in the rally in front of Western Railway headquarters in Churchgate on Thursday, reported The Asian Age.

Raj Thackeray will be seen in protesting politely with folded hands and not in general MNS style. According to reports over 50, 000 supporters are expected to attend the rally.

On Saturday, Thackeray had also spoken out against the bullet train project. “While people are struggling to survive in the cities, Modi is asking them to do yoga and campaign for Swachh Bharat. We will launch a ‘no bullet train campaign’,” he had said.

The rally was organised because of Elphinstone Road Railway station stampede where 23 people died and over 30 were injured. The stampede took place on September 29. After the stampede, Fadnavis wrote on Twitter. “Saddened and shocked to know about the tragic stampede at #Elphinstone railway station, foot over bridge (sic).”
