Recently, the Bollywood box office got a much-needed shot in the arm with the release of Varun Dhawan’s film ‘Judwaa 2’. Not just the team of ‘Judwaa 2’, even trade analysts seemed to be quite elated with all the success. Naturally, when we asked if Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Chef’ has a chance to survive this week, trade analyst Girish Johar said, “To some extent ‘Judwaa 2’ will remain a competition to ‘Chef’. It has done fantastic business and the mass has really loved the film. But ‘Chef’ as  new release has an edge over ‘Judwaa 2’. If Chef’s content is good and people actually like it, then the film may collect as much as Rs 15 crore by the end of the weekend.”

While talking about other films which will release along with ‘Chef’, Girish Johar said,”‘Chef’ will release in around 1500 to 2000 screens. It is expected to earn Rs 4 crores on Friday. There are many other releases like ‘Lego Ninja’, ‘Tu Hai Mera Sunday’ and ‘Victoria & Abdul’, but they won’t stand as a massive competition for the film.”

“Films from different genres attract different kinds of crowd. Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Chef’ is likely to attract people who have an interest in watching Hollywood films. The film is a remake of a Jon Favreau film with the same name, which had released in the year 2014. It would attract the urban crowd who visit multiplexes and is aware of the original Jon Favreau’s film. It is meant for audience in the metro cities. Whoever wants to watch the film, will mainly want to watch it for Saif Ali Khan,” added Girish Johar.
