The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 holds the top spot at DxOMark chart along with the Apple iPhone 8. Or should we say, held the top spot?
As we speculated, the newly launched Google Pixel 2 has dethroned the aforementioned smartphones. It has bagged a whopping score of 98 out of 100 on DxOMark. So it is safe to say, currently, this flagship device from Google flaunts the best smartphone camera. It is worth pointing out that last year's Google Pixel had also gained the top spot at DxOMark chart.
The search-engine giant launched the Pixel 2 alongside the Pixel 2 XL last night. The camera aspect is one of the key highlights of the device. It features a 12.2MP rear-facing main camera with f/1.8 aperture, Auto-focus, and OIS as well as EIS technologies. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture.
In addition, the Pixel 2 is equipped with Google's Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) as well as the Optical Image Stabilization technology (OIS). Both of these features will allow users to take superior quality pictures and videos. Especially, these features will help you stabilize shakiest of videos.
So we don't think any of the upcoming smartphones of this year would be able to beat the Pixel 2's camera. According to DxOMark, the smartphone's camera has earned the top spot owing to its the wide dynamic range regardless of the lighting conditions, a high level of detail preservation, strong flash performance, and pleasing foreground and background blur for portraits.
What's more, the device has performed well while capturing videos as well. The camera apparently had great stabilization, fast and accurate autofocus, good noise reduction and detail preservation, and decent white balance.
The Google Pixel 2 has achieved a score of 99 for photography and 96 for videography. In case you don't know, the Pixel 2 XL also comes with the same camera as its smaller sibling.
