About 35,000 students from over 150 educational institutions are expected to take part in a 7-km long walkathon-cum-football rally on Thursday.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is organising the rally in view of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, which kicks off in New Delhi on Friday.
Ankush Chavan, NMMC Additional Commissioner, said: “The walkathon will start at 7 a.m. at Tandel ground in Nerul. There will be two groups: one marching towards the NMMC headquarters in Belapur, and the other to Ramleela ground in Nerul.”
The NMMC aims to break its own Limca record set in 2015 when 27,000 students took part in a walkathon to mark its smart city initiative. This time, the NMMC aims to create a Guinness Record.
Sandeep Sangave, NMMC education officer and sport-cum-cultural activity in-charge, said: “We distributed 350 footballs in civic schools recently.”
