Honeypreet Insaan had gone missing the day after the violence that hit Haryana in wake of sentencing of Gurmeet Ram Rahim to a big jail term. His aide, Honeypreet was blamed for the violence and orders were given for her arrest. However, she remained hidden for over a month with Haryana cops searching for her from Nepal border to Maharashtra. Now, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has lashed out at Punjab Police for delaying Honeypreet’s arrest. While talking to reporters, the Haryana CM on Thursday said that the Punjab Police knew where she was and should have informed the Haryana police about her presence in the state but they did not do it. Khattar was clearly not impressed with the way Punjab Police handled the matter despite knowing the whereabouts of Honeypreet. Meanwhile, Congress retaliated by saying that BJP is only trying to deflect blame of its own failures.

Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of convicted Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was arrested on Tuesday on the highway near Chandigarh along with another woman. This arrest came after almost a month’s hunt. She was later taken to the Civil Hospital in Panchkula, for a medical examination. Honeypreet was wanted by the police in connection with the violence that broke out in Panchkula August 25, when Ram Rahim was declared guilty of rape by a special CBI court.

On September 26, the Delhi High Court had also rejected her transit anticipatory bail plea. For almost 40 days, Haryana Police were tracking leads on Honeypreet in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
