Five dead, dozens injured as bus rams into truck in Haryana

Five people were killed and over dozens were injured when a tourist bus collided with a truck in Jhajjar early Thursday morning, police said. The driver of the bus, against whom a case has been registered, is absconding.

According to police, the bus was going from Bikaner to Delhi, and was being driven by one Anil, a resident of Rajasthan.

In the FIR registered at the Beri police station, the complainant, who was in the vehicle at the time, has stated that the bus driver started speeding near Kalanaur, when he spotted a police car signalling him to stop.

β€œHe did not stop the bus but drove carelessly and negligently, despite all passengers, including me, trying to make him understand, and took the vehicle towards Beri,” the complainant said.

Moments after the vehicle crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction, the driver fled the scene.

A case has been registered regarding the matter under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees).

β€œA case has been registered, and we are trying to track down the accused through the owner of the vehicle and employee records. The matter is under investigation,” said Inspector Sandeep, Station House Officer, Beri police station.
