HYDERABAD: Major opposition parties — the Congress, TDP and Left — along with people’s organisations such as Telangana Joint Action Committee headed by M Kodandaram and Telangana Mass and Social Organisations Forum (T-MAS) led by balladeer Gadar are, for one-more time, going to join hands against policies of the TRS government in the state.
Poru Baata (warpath), a bus yatra, to be undertaken by CPI to expose the alleged failures of the state government, is going to pave the way for the opposition’s ‘friendly gathering’ against the ruling establishment. CPI has decided to launch Poru Baata on October 6 at Jangaon by holding a public meeting. “TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, TDP TS unit president L Ramana, TJAC chairman M Kodandaram, CPI veteran K Narayana, Gadar, Vimalakka and others will take part in the programme launch,” CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said here on Wednesday.During Poru Baata, which will continue for 60 days with the theme ‘Samajika Telangana’, CPI leaders led by Venkat Reddy, will crisscross 335 mandals in 31 districts covering 5,800 km. It will conclude on December 3.
“During our Poru Baata, which will cover all 119 Assembly constituencies in the state, we will try to create awareness among people about how this government has hoodwinked the electorate by not keeping the promises it made to them at the time of 2014 polls. The government’s failure to distribute a three-acre land to each Dalit family, its inability to create lakhs of jobs for the unemployed youth and failure to construct double bedroom houses for the poor are examples of this,” he said, after releasing a poster on the yatra.CPI leaders will campaign during the yatra against the state government’s decision to form farmers’ coordination committees in all villages allegedly with TRS members.
