Man steals from Chinese national at IGI airport, arrested in Mumbai

A 35-year-old man was arrested from Mumbai for allegedly stealing $1,400 from the bag of a Chinese national at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place on September 30 when Chen Yang found the zip of his bag open after X-ray screening, and on checking, found $1,400 missing from his hand baggage, police said.

DCP (Airport) Sanjay Bhatia said that after the matter was reported, the police started scanning the CCTV footage and saw one Rajesh Yadav, who was travelling to Mumbai, taking the money. The CISF and the local police at the Mumbai Airport were informed and he was apprehended, the officer said.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Belarus national was robbed of her digital camera at Humayun’s Tomb. DCP (southeast) Romil Baaniya said that the case was solved within nine hours and Abdul Samad (22) and Salman (21) have been arrested.
