GUWAHATI: BJP in Assam is caught in bitter war of words. Lok Sabha MP from Tezpur, R P Sharma and state's Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta are tongue lashing each other.

In a sting operation done by a local television channel, Sharma has accused Dutta of taking bribes for allocating department works.

The MP raked up controversy when he said that several ministers are taking 10 percent commission for various work.

Sharma said, “Our government came to power in Assam in 2016 on the promise of corruption free governance. Our chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal is non corrupt and I expect him to probe these allegations.”

Dutta while denying the allegations said that such things will hamper the party and the government.

He said that he will lodge a complaint with party leadership.

While opposition Congress has sought resignation of the minister and probe, several organisations including All Assam Students Union, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) have asked the government to institute a through probe into the allegations.
