Minor increase in voters in Tirupur

The electorate in the district has increased by 0.77 % in the draft photo electoral rolls released by District Collector K.S. Palanisamy here on Tuesday.

According to the rolls, of the 21,71,738 voters, 10,84,693 were men, 10,86,801 women, and 244 belonged to other catagory in the eight Assembly constituencies in the district.

Special Tahsildar (Elections) S. Murugadoss told The Hindu that 17,356 voters were added and names of 818 voters were deleted.

The rolls show that Palladam Assembly constituency with 3,45,461 voters (1,74,154 men, 1,71,267 women and 40 others) has the maximum number of voters among the eight Assembly constituencies.

The Madathukulam constituency with 2,31,865 (1,14,911 men, 1,16,935 women and 19 others) voters has the least.

The number of voters in other constituencies is as follows: Dharapuram- 2,45,703 (1,21,054 men, 1,24,641 women and 8 others); Kangayam- 2,40,852 (1,18,315 men, 1,22,515 women and 22 others); Avinashi- 2,58,583 (1,27,429 men, 1,31,132 women and 22 others); Tirupur North -3,40,919 (1,75,380 men, 1,65,455 women and 84 others); Tirupur South – 2,53,297 (1,29,115 men, 1,24,155 women and 27 others); and Udumalpet- 2,55,058 (1,24,335 men, 1,30,701 women and 22 others).
