Chief Minister inspects govt-run LNJP, GB Pant Hospitals

After surprise inspections to check availability of medicines at two government hospitals on Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered the authorities to reduce the amount of time patients have to wait at drug counters.

Mr. Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendar Jain, along with officials of the Health Department, inspected LNJP Hospital and GB Pant Hospital.

As per a statement from the CM’s office, Mr. Kejriwal spoke to patients as they waited in queues at the medicine counters of the hospitals.

Patients at GP Pant Hospital informed the CM that there were some medicines that were not available following which Mr. Kejriwal checked the records of medicines and summoned the director of the hospital to his office at the Delhi Secretariat, said the CMO.

At the LNJP Hospital, the patients told Mr. Kejriwal that they were getting the medicines prescribed at the hospital counter.

Referring to the need for more pharmacists, Mr. Kejriwal said he would ask the Lieutenant-Governor to approve the recruitment of pharmacists as it would help in reducing the waiting time at medicine counters at government hospitals.
