After a grand launch in China, Xiaomi has now made it official that its flagship Mi Mix 2 smartphone will come to India. Vice president, Xiaomi and managing director of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain officially announced that the smartphone will be launched in India on 10 October at an event held in New Delhi.

The Mi Mix 2 is the successor to the original Mi Mix concept smartphone. While the earlier model was produced in limited numbers, Xiaomi seems to have sorted out all the issues and launched its successor, the Mi Mix 2 on 11 September, at an event held in China. Today, almost a month later, it was made official that the smartphone is going to be launched in India.
The highlight of the Mi Mix 2, just like its successor is the display. The smartphone features a bezel-less design, with the display taking up to close to 90 percent of the front face.
The Mi Mix 2 packs a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The company made the bottom chin narrower than the one in the original Mi Mix. It pointed out that the decision to reduce the chin size by 12 percent made the manufacturing costs higher. Xiaomi redesigned its piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology to add a speaker grill and ultrasonic proximity sensor at the top side of the device.

The sound resonates through the metal frame and it is delivered through the front display. The company has also added a sound hole on the top of the device along with a ‘Sound guiding tube’ for the membrane speaker to improve the loudness of the sound.
The Mi Mix 2 Special Edition, follows the original concept model and uses a body made entirely of instead of the metal chassis (and a ceramic back) on the standard model.

Coming to the hardware, Xiaomi has included the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset inside. The device is available in China in 6 GB and 8 GB RAM models. While the 6 GB RAM models are available with 64, 128, and 256 GB internal storage, the 8 GB ceramic model only comes with 128 GB internal storage. Do note that both variants do not support external storage expansion.
The device packs in a 12 MP sensor with PDAF, OIS and a dual LED flash at rear and a 5 MP sensor on the front. The front-facing camera is located at the bottom chin of the device.
The Mi Mix 2 is powered by a 3,400 mAh battery. Xiaomi had priced the Mi Mix 2 at CNY 3,299 (approx Rs 33,000) for the 64 GB internal storage and 6 GB RAM variant. The 128 GB internal storage variant with 6 GB RAM was priced at CNY 3,599 (approx Rs 36,000) and the 256 GB internal storage variant with 6 GB RAM was priced at CNY 3,999 (approx Rs 40,000).
