A class 12th student has alleged that she was molested by her teacher in Pauri district's Lansdowne and when she informed the principal about it he tried to cover up the incident, police said today.
Circle Officer J R Joshi said a case was today registered against the teacher under the POCSO act on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.
The girl, a student at a government school, alleged that the commerce teacher, Afzal Mehboob Khan, molested her after shutting her in a room at the school on September 19. However, she managed to run out.
She later reported the matter to the principal but instead of acting against the teacher he allegedly tried to bury the case prompting the girl to lodge a complaint with the police, the CO said.
The police official said the accused teacher would be arrested soon. Upset locals are demanding stern action against the teacher.
