Purported “anti-government slogans” led to a fight between two groups in southeast Delhi, following which a person from one of the groups was allegedly kidnapped, beaten up and robbed, police said. Police, however, added that they are yet to verify who raised the slogans that led to the scuffle.

Police said the victim, who works with the Ministry of Defence, has alleged that he was kidnapped, beaten up and robbed by over 10 people for stopping them from raising slogans against the central government, near the Okhla Mandi. He alleged the men were drunk.

The matter came to light on September 30, when the victim approached Amar Colony police and informed them that he was kidnapped and robbed by the men who were travelling in two cars. As per his complaint, he was also forcefully made to withdraw money from his account for them.

He told police that he was at the Okhla Mandi in the early hours of September 30, when he spotted a few people raising slogans against the government. On seeing them, he intervened and tried to stop them from. Agitated, a few of them started arguing with him. The argument soon turned into a physical scuffle.
