Vigilance officials conduct probe

The Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) Department on Tuesday unearthed a fake house sites racket at Gudivada in Krishna district and booked two persons, including a Village Revenue Assistant (VRA).

The government issued house site pattas to the poor at the Mandapadu New Colony in Gudivada mandal some 10 years ago.

The accused created fake documents for the unoccupied plots and sold them.

A team led by R. Vijaya Paul, V&E Dy. SP, and V.M. Indira Devi, Tehsildar, enquired into the allegations and found that one Karre Venkatagiri of Billapadu village with the connivance of local VRA Sri Ramprasad had created eight forged documents and sold the plots at ₹60,000 each, Regional Vigilance and Enforcement Officer (RVEO) M. Ravindranath Babu said on Tuesday. “The vigilance officials identified all the eight victims who purchased the plots and confiscated some fake pattas. Following a complaint given by Gudivada Tehsildar, the Two Town police registered a case against Venkatagiri and Ramprasad,” he said.
