Four get life imprisonment for murder, robbery

The Second Additional District and Sessions Court, here on Wednesday, convicted four persons accused of robbery and murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The convicted are Manu Kumar, Manja, Sunil of B. Cholenahalli in Channarayapatna taluk, and Manju of Hosakerehalli in Bengaluru. The gang murdered Tejasvini, a resident of Chikkahonnenahalli on the outskirts of Hassan on September 30, 2013.

They had barged into her house while she was alone and slit her throat and fled with her jewellery. The incident came to light when her son came home for lunch. Based on a complaint filed by Tejasvini’s husband A.R. Ranga, Circle Police Inspector Sanjeeve Gowda conducted the probe and succeeded in arresting the accused. The Second and Additional District and Sessions judge Sham Prasad conducted the hearing and pronounced the judgement on Wednesday. The convicted were sentenced to life-term imprisonment, besides a penalty of ₹ 25,000 each for murder (IPC 302).
