Bhopal: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asked his ministers to draw a list of corrupt officials and employees of their departments so that action can be taken against them. In an informal discussion with the ministers after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Chouhan said he should not get complaints of corruption and irregularities from any department.
He also asked the ministers to do branding of places of tourist interests in the state. He said nation-wide tourism festival will begin from October 6. During this fest, the ministers should visit tourist centres in the districts under their charge and their home districts. He said they should hold meetings at these centres if possible and organise seminars etc to explore the tourism potential.
Chouhan told ministers that a new tourist centre called Sailani has been developed near Omkareshwar. On October 25, a cabinet meeting will be held at Sailani so as to make the place known to people. He said efforts for promoting Hanuwantiya has yielded excellent results. Chouhan also told his cabinet colleagues that chief secretary BP Singh’s state-wide tour to give a push to disposal of pending revenue cases has yielded dividends. A similar strategy can be adopted for the disposal of pending cases of other departments.
Dairies to get land at 90% concession
The state cabinet on Tuesday decided to move dairies out of municipal limits in the state. The cabinet gave a nod to this policy. Land for relocation of dairies will be provided at 10 percent of the market value. Land cess will be charged at the rate of 7.5 percent. The land will be made available free of cost to urban development department by revenue department through collectors. The urban development department will then allocate land to dairies on 30-year lease through municipal corporations.
The cabinet approved allocation of Rs 310 crore for Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. Eleven tourism development schemes will be brought under an umbrella scheme, which will be implemented through Board. The cabinet decided to transfer 28.48 hectares of land of Chhindwara Plus Developers Limited to the forest department and allot 54 hectares of land to the company on the basis of collector guidelines. Revenue minister Umashankar Gupta opposed allocation of land at old rates to the company.
‘Why are we losing court battles?’
The cabinet decided to consider the period from January 1, 2006 to March 31, 2014 for determining the pension of university pensioners under the sixth pay commission. The decision was taken as a follow up of court order. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed displeasure over government losing court cases on most occasions. “This brings bad name to the government,” he said. Chouhan said it should be ensured that the government’s decisions are not struck down by courts. “First we take a decision, then we change it on the orders of courts. This is not good”, he said.
