JAISALMER: After a Langa Manganiyar family of Dantal village lodged a murder case against a Bhopa on Monday at Phalsoond police station in Jaisalmer, Bhopa and his relatives ordered all the Langa Manganiyar families to vacate the village. On Tuesday, 20 families left the village and took shelter in their relatives' houses. A large number of Langa Manganiyar and Mirasi community members met SP Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday and sought security for themselves and an impartial probe into the murder case.
After this incident, the SP has deployed additional police force in the village and requested Langa Manganiyar to come back to their village.
Chaggu Khan, brother of the deceased, said that his younger brother Amad Khan, a resident of Dantal village, used to sing bhajans at local Devi temple. On September 27, the temple Bhopa Ramesh Suthar asked Amad to sing a Parche wala rag so that the 'Devi' enters his body. Amad sang for a long time, but the Devi did not enter Suthar's body. So, he started abusing Amad and snatched away his harmonium. Late in the night, Suthar and his two relatives under the influence of liquor came to Amad's house and forcefully took him in a vehicle.
They beat up Amad and murdered him.
They were threatened by the Bhopa against lodging any case. Out of fear Chaggu Khan's family buried the body.
But, on Monday, Chaggu Khan's family gathered courage and lodged a case against Bhopa Ramesh Suthar and his relatives Shyam Ram and Tara Ram.
Following this, Bhopa and other villagers got enraged and ordered all the Langa Manganiyar families to vacate the village. Gunasar Lok Sangeet Sansthan president Baks Khan said that on Tuesday they met the SP and demanded an impartial probe and post-mortem by forming a medical board. He demanded to provide security to them as 20 families have already left the village.
