Maharashtra: 7 held for stealing fertilisers worth over Rs 7L

Seven members of a gang were today arrested for stealing fertilisers, worth Rs 7.29 lakh, police said.

"The seven members stole the fertilisers from different shops and were selling to farmers at a lower price," said Ashok Karpe, police inspector, attached to crime branch.


Acting on a tip-off, we apprehended the seven accused from Sindvad, Khedgaon and Khatvad villages, the officer said.

Fertilisers worth Rs 7.29 lakh and three vehicles were recovered from their possession, Karpe said.

The accused were identified as Sopan Baste (26), Rahul More (26), Satish More (25), Shubham Gave (18), Khanderao Kadale (40), Kiran Gaikwad (18) and Gulab Lande (21), he saidadding a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered.
