The city of Stonecrest in Georgia, United States is doing everything possible to lure technology and e-commerce giant Amazon, which is looking for a place to build its second headquarters.

The city, located just one and half hours away from state capital Atlanta, voted 4-2 on Monday to de-annex 345 acres of its land and name it Amazon, if the company decides to build its 'HQ2' office there.

According to media reports, Amazon will invest USD 5 billion in HQ2, which would create 50,000 jobs.

According to The Seattle Times, around 100 cities in Canada and United States have expressed their interest to house Amazon so far.

Amazon was founded in 1994 in the Washington State and changed its offices before moving to its current headquarters in Seattle. The firm has launched a bidding process to select location of its HQ2 office.

Proximity to major highways, access to mass transit routes and up to eight million square feet of office space for future expansion are some of the criteria. The final site will be announced in 2018.

In 1959, Japanese city Koromo changed its name to Toyota city, which houses many manufacturing plants and facilities of the Toyota Motor Corporation.
