A teenager employed as a domestic help in Faridabad allegedly jumped off her employer’s 11th floor balcony on Wednesday morning. She, however, survived after being caught in a net and landing on the balcony on the 10th floor.

Residents of the locality, who claimed that they had rescued her, alleged that the girl has injury marks all over her body and appears to have been starved. They also claimed that they have heard screams from the flat over the past few weeks.

According to the residents, the girl was found lying on the 10th floor balcony around 3.30 pm.

“The woman at whose house she worked alerted security guards that she might have fallen. The guards then alerted us. Since the flat where she fell is vacant, we jumped over from the balcony of the adjoining flat to rescue her,” said Nirmal, a resident of Kanishka Tower, where the incident took place.

The girl, he said, was unconscious at the time and was awoken after water was sprinkled on her face. The vacant flat’s owners were called, and the flat was unlocked. “The victim told us that she had come here from Patna with her employer two years ago and that she has been tortured ever since,” he alleged.

A police officer said: “She did not have any visible injuries when she was brought to the police station. The residents have submitted a complaint, we will probe the matter before confirming any claim.”
