Ad filmmaker-turned-director Revathi Varma will soon be helming the biopic of veteran track and field athlete, PT Usha. It’s been confirmed that AR Rahman is the composer for this film.

Talks are reportedly on to rope in Priyanka Chopra to play PT Usha with sources stating that the actress is also keen to do the film. Her Hollywood commitments kept her busy till now and she’s expected to give her nod soon. Priyanka isn’t new to biopics, having previously played the titular role in Mary Kom, a biopic on the Olympics-winning boxer.

The PT Usha film will feature three stages of the athlete’s life: as a child aspiring to become a runner, an athlete, and then finally, as a mother and coach.

This yet-to-be-titled biopic, which will go on the floors in six months, will be made on a budget of `100 crore, the majority of which will be supposedly spent on recreating the 80s and 90s period.

Owing to Usha’s popularity in other countries, the film is to be made in English, Malayalam, Hindi, Chinese and Russian.
