Revision takes Chennai vote bank higher

CHENNAI: In the electoral draft released on Tuesday, around 15,000 voters have been added in the 16 Assembly constituencies since January. The tally, which now stands at 40,73,703, continues to have more female voters.
Since the last roll was released on January 5, a total of 16,703 deceased have been removed while 32,554 new members have been added. Only 10 transgenders have been added in the last 10 months and the number stands at 978.
D Karthikeyan, Corporation Commissioner, announced that the draft would be displayed in offices of zone 4,5,6,8,9,10,13. Anyone one born before January 1, 1999 is eligible to vote.
Last date to apply for changes will be October 31. and public are requested to approach their respective zonal officers with the required documents to make the changes.The changes can also be effected online at elections.tn.gov.in and nvsp.in
Taking into consideration the fast approaching deadline, the Chennai Corporation will be organising special camps on October 8 and October 22.
He also announced a reorganisation of the 3699 voting stations and 72 substations into 3768 voting stations for the convenience of the public.
