Victims seeking justice at Ponnuru rural police station on Tuesday | Express

GUNTUR: Thirty women of Mulukuduru village of Ponnuru mandal on Tuesday lodged a complaint against a woman who duped them of `30 lakh in the name of chit funds at Ponnuru rural police station in Guntur district.According to police, U Padmavathi and her husband Kumaraswamy were doing chit fund and interest business for the past 20 years. She used to take chit fund amounts from members by offering huge interests, but failed to pay them back.

They alleged that Padmavathi’s entire family was collecting money but they were not repaying and recently suspecting members sought their money back. They got to know that Padmavathi had sold her farm land for `30 lakh, but she did not pay a single rupee to the chit fund members. 
Hence, Sk Noorjahan, J Sitamahalakshmi, M Uma, K Siva Kumari and others lodged a complaint against her at the rural police station of Ponnuru.
