Louis Berger scam: CBI may grill top Assam govt officials

GUWAHATI: Several top government officials are likely to be questioned in connection with the Louis Berger bribery scam by a team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which will be visiting the state soon.
The premier investigation agency has taken over the probe into the case from the state police CID following a recent Gauhati high court order and began its investigation proceedings officially from Tuesday.
The CBI's New Delhi anti-corruption unit on Tuesday informed the high court, the CBI special judges' court here, the state's chief secretary, the DGP of Assam Police, the state's home department and Bhaben Handique, who had moved the court demanding the high-level probe into the case, that it has registered a case in connection with the scam under charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal misconduct.
Sources said the CID had been preparing the case files to hand over the details of its findings to the CBI.
