The city police on Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old person from Jharkhand, who was allegedly involved in an OTP fraud case that was booked at Dwaraka police station. However, the main accused in the case is yet to be identified.
The arrested was identified as Dinesh Saw who hails from Giridih district of Jharkhand.
According to Cyber Crime Cell Inspector V Gopinath, one Lal Bahadur Sinha of Seethammadhara area of the city lodged a complaint that he had received a phone call from an unknown person, who posed as a bank official, and had asked some confidential details of his ATM card claiming that they have to link it to Aadhaar card. Sinha found that around ₹ 70,000 was deducted from his account through various transactions. Following the complaint, the Dwarakanagar police forwarded it to Cyber Crime Investigation Cell.
During investigation, the police found that of the total deducted amount, around ₹19,999 was transferred to the account of Dinesh Saw.
