Indore: The 28th annual conference of Indian Society of Organ Transplantation (ISOT) will begin at Brilliant Convention Centre in city from October 13. The ISOT has decided to gift the conference to Indore after the city has proved itself as the most trusted and developing centres in terms of organ donation and transplant.

Hailing the city for its efforts in the cause, organising committee’s Dr Ashmit Chaudhary during a meeting held here on Tuesday, said “Multiple green corridors were prepared for as many as 26 times to facilitate speedy transportation of vital organs, giving new lease of life to many in the city and outside.” Sharing details about the event, he informed that more than 1,000 delegates and experts from across the globe are expected to participate in the conference for knowledge sharing on unique cases, advancement in techniques, technical view points and scientific research presentation.

“The three-day event will include sessions on liver and pancreas transplant, plenary and renal transplantation, transplant infectious diseases, transplant pathology and heart and lung transplantation,” Dr Chaudhary said, adding that the conference will provide an opportunity for doctors to know the reasons behind less number of organ donation taking place in the country. “Indore is emerging as a medical hub, but it still needs a lot to do. We will also discuss the steps required in changing policies to make organ donation compulsory like US and France,” he added. ISOT will also submit a report to government with the recommendations to fill the gap between need of organs and number of donations in the country.
