An agricultural labourer was injured when a leopard attacked her while she was loading sugar cane on a truck at Maranahalli, Dudda hobli, in the taluk on Tuesday.
A team of 18 labourers from Ballari district was working in a field when the the wildcat pounced on Renukabai Prashanth Nayak, a native of Anekal Thanda in Hagaribommana Halli taluk of Ballari district, at 3 p.m., Mandya subdivision police said. It fled when the other labourers began throwing sticks and stones at it.
Ms. Renukabai was rushed to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) hospital and she is out of danger, sources added.
Forest Department officials plan to place a cage near the field to trap the leopard.
