KARIMNAGAR: AS heavy rain lashed parts of the State on Monday, paddy, cotton and cash crops were damaged in Karimnagar, Rajanna-Sircilla and Jagtial districts. Katapluri Bhasker, a farmer of Gudatipalli in Shankarapatnam mandal, for instance, lost his entire standing paddy crop. “All my hopes have been dashed. I spent `40,000 on inputs. I appeal to the government to provide compensation,” he said. In this village alone, about 50 acres of crops were damaged. Some farmers alleged that they had not received crop insurance from the state government.
