Ujjain: Local artist enters record books yet again

Ujjain: Local artist Narendra Kushwah has entered the Golden Book of World Records once again by making the largest variety of the musical instrument ‘damroo’ by a single individual. He created the ‘damroo’ using twelve different materials including glass, ceramic, wood, bamboo, metal, plastic and clay amongst others.

Kushwah has created two world records earlier, including one in the Limca Book of World Records for creating the biggest ‘nagada’, using glass and another for creating different kinds of musical instruments using one material.

His ‘damroos’ had been exhibited in the Triveni museum during the month of Shravan and he had donated them to be played during the Mahakaleshwar sawari. Kushwah has also performed on his glass ‘nagada’ with musician AR Rahman and his group. Currently Kushwah is working as an artist with the social justice department of the zila panchayat.


Asian head of Golden Book of World Records, Dr Manish Vishnoi presented a certificate of excellence to Kushwah,in the presence of theatre artist Bhushan Bhatt.
