Burglary at cop’s house, Rs 1.5 lakh cash & jewellery stolen

GURUGRAM: The house of a head constable, Dharmveer Singh, in Police Lines, was robbed of cash worth around Rs 1.5 lakh, and gold and silver jewellery, on Monday evening when he stepped out for a walk.
The burglary took place around 6pm on Monday.
According to police, Singh works as a reader of ACP (Manesar) and lives on the third floor of C Tower in Police Lines.
According to Singh, he was alone at home on Monday evening and had stepped out for a walk around 6pm. His family had gone to a nearby market and the neighbours too, were not at home at the time of the incident. He returned home after around 40 minutes to find the main door's lock broken, the house ransacked and the wardrobe broken. Gold and silver jewellery and cash worth around Rs 1.5 lakh were missing, according to Singh.
Based on Singh's complaint, an FIR was registered against an unidentified accused under sections 457 (house breaking), and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the IPC at Civil Line police station.
"We are looking into the matter and the accused will be arrested soon," said ASI Shamsher Singh, the investigating officer.
