Mumbai: Malwani police have arrested a man for sexually abusing a three-and-half-year-old girl in Malad (West). The police said the accused Jaykumar Singh lured the girl on pretext of giving her a balloon and took her to a secluded place where he raped her.
When the girl returned home, she was crying in pain. Her parents saw her bleeding and asked the reason. The girl narrated the incident to her mother who reached Malwani police station and registered rape case against Singh. The police said the Singh and the minor live in the same neighbourhood of a slum area in Malwani. Her parents are daily wage workers and engaged in making box for bangles.
“The victim’s parents are very poor. Singh had taken the girl to a vacant room in the slum area where they live and raped her. We have arrested the accused on the same day. Further investigations are underway,” said an officer from Malwani police station. Singh has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was produced before magistrate court.
