The Commissioner of Phagwara Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Monday submitted a written complaint against PMC BJP Mayor Arun Khosla to the Additional Secretary of Punjab Local Bodies Department alleging that his office has been illegaly encroached upon by the Mayor and his associates before he took charge of the office.

Bakhtawar Singh, who joined as commissioner Phagwara MC on Wednesday, claimed that when he went to his office Arun Khosla was sitting there and was not ready to leave. He further stated that if any important documents go missing from the office, the Mayor and his associates would be held responsible.

The copy of the complaint has been sent to other authorities including the Director of the Local Bodies Department.

When contacted, Khosla, said that the Municipal Committee president used to sit in this office earlier as well. “I sat in his office and he can sit in mine,” he said.

According to sources, Mayor has done so on the behest of a senior BJP leader who wanted to appoint an officer of his choice as the MC Commissioner but he failed to do so.

Hence, he asked his Khosla, a close confidant, to create such a hindrance.

Khosla was also in the news recently when two accused held in Mumbai in an inter-continental kidney scam took his name and told the police that Phagwara Mayor had paid Rs 40 lakh to purchase a kidney for his daughter from a donor in Andhra Pradesh.
