Indore: Bain Capital managing director Amit Chandra here on Tuesday said that the mantra for success is a combo of “who we are and how we work”. “Living in a middle class family helps you grasp the fact that success is always a combination of who we are and how we work, and we shouldn’t take this for granted at all,” he said while addressing a function organised by IIM Indore to celebrate its 21st foundation day.
Amit Chandra delivered the foundation day lecture. During his talk, he noted that interacting with youngsters has always been fun, as they are always updated and motivates a person to keep learning. He shared how his childhood, relocations and college education influenced his life style and moulded his personality in many ways. “Working with various organisations, the one thing I learnt was that what I learnt outside the classroom—was real education. Surround yourself with great people in every organization, try to feel secure in their successes and learn from them—this would help you achieve success,” Chandra said.
“Philanthropy and socially responsible behaviour needs to be rewarded and not just applauded. We need to pay attention to the philanthropy and the way it can change the society. You can’t achieve anything without perfection. You need to look inwards, into the softer aspects of managing yourself, building real relation with society and learning how to communicate,” he said. Earlier, IIM Indore director Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan in his welcome address shed light on the various initiatives taken by the Institute and disclose the future plans. “The Institute has a large alum base of more than 5000 graduates with diversified portfolio, working in various fields successfully,” he said.
He also noted that the Institute’s mission is to be contextually relevant and provide world class academic infrastructure along with enhancement in the course curriculum, raising the level of research by faculty members and improving the international collaboration via student exchange as well in the coming years.
A short movie of IIM Indore was also showcased. The 15 minute movie depicted the campus life of the Institute from the point of view of its esteemed alumni and how it enhanced their career and personality. This was followed by a short presentation by the iHelp Club of IIM Indore, a social initiative run by IPM participants for the welfare of underprivileged children.
The event also witnessed an award presentation ceremony, i.e. Certificate for Academic Excellence to top 5 percentile of the combined batch of the PGP (Batch 2016-18) and IPM (Batch 2013-18) participants based on their academic performance in the year 2016-17.
