As part of a drive to beautify the otherwise dull spaces below city flyovers, the SDMC today inaugurated the twelfth such zone near Savitri Cinema in south Delhi, officials said.
New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi dedicated the artistically beautified space, underneath the PWD flyover.
"This is the 12th PWD flyover where the SDMC has created an aesthetically pleasing space by transforming a neglected area," the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) said in a statement.
The SDMC has developed greenery in two parts of the space underneath the flyover. Apart from this two sculptures have also been installed, one in each part, it said.
The entire work has been completed at the cost of Rs 40 lakh, the civic body said.
Since the flyovers are situated on several major roads, catering to heavy traffic, hence, the beautification will be witnessed by a large number of people including motorists and pedestrians, she said.
Recently, the SDMC had beautified spaces below a flyover on Ring Road near Lajpat Nagar.
