JAJPUR (ODISHA): Police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of dacoits with the arrest of six persons in Jajpur district.

Four semi-automatic country-made pistols, 7 magazines, 80 rounds of live cartridges, two SUVs and six mobile phones were seized from them, police said.

The gang members were planning a dacoity in Jajpur Road police station area when police nabbed them on Monday night, they said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), central range, Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi said police had information that the gang members armed with weapons had come to Jajpur in two SUVs to commit dacoity in the region and the dacoits were nabbed in a special operation.

Three of the arrested dacoits, including the kingpin, belong to Jharkhand, the IGP said.
