Indore: In a brilliant feat, Emerald Heights International Schools emerged the only school in the region to win an international award for its efforts towards bringing changes in society. The school has recently received the award in ‘Inventiveness’ category at the Round Square International Conference 2017, held at Cape Town in South Africa.

Over 180 schools from 50 countries had participated in the conference sharing their year’s work and contribution towards society. Competing against renowned schools from across the world, the school bagged the award based on their ideation and inventiveness.  Giving credit to students, school principal Siddharth Singh said “We are happy to have such wonderful, inventive and hard working students, who spent time on this project.” He elaborated that students has collaborated with teachers under his leadership to achieve their goals in the preceding year.

Discussing the project that fetched the award to the school, Singh said “Our students had come with the idea of working for cancer, as many are suffering from it due to lack of care and awareness.” The project was aimed at identifying and minimising the risk of cancer amongst the high risk prone populations. “Under the project, students conducted a detailed survey to identify high risk prone population for cancer in and outside the school premises. Further, this survey was shared with Indore Cancer Foundation for research,” Singh said. “Further, students also ran various awareness campaigns, including one for uneducated school staff to explain them about risk factors and possible way to come out of deadly addictions. Students also had raised funds for the foundation,” he added.
