OnePlus appears to have thrown off market leader Samsung and its arch rival Apple from their top positions in the online only premium segment with the Chinese smartphone maker grabbing 57% share of the market above Rs 26,000, as per International Data Corporation India.

IDC said that OnePlus was No 1 in the segment in the quarter ended June, in the online segment, followed by Apple with a 37.8% share and Samsung with a paltry 4% share. Established players are likely to dispute these findings.

"More than half of premium smartphones sold online during 2017 Q2 were an OnePlus, to be specific, OnePlus 3T or OnePlus 5 on the back of its digital first strategy," analysts at IDC said in a statement on Wednesday.
Amazon India reported that OnePlus witnessed 3X jump in growth in the first week of sales compared to last year Diwali Sale. Also, OnePlus 5 was the bestselling smartphone during the recent Amazon ‘Prime Day’. OnePlus sells exclusively on the portal.

The company is now planning to strengthen its position by offering special prices between October 4 and October 8, in the second wave of the Amazon Great Indian Shopping Festival, where the OnePlus 3T will be available from Rs. 24,999. Customers can avail cashback of Rs. 2000 by using debit and credit cards; and zero cost EMI on both the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5.

Customers are also eligible for an extra Rs. 3000 off on exchange of their smartphone and up to Rs. 25000 Cleartrip coupons on purchase of the OnePlus 5.
