To write to Tamil Nadu police regarding her safety and security as well

In the wake of deposed AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala applying for parole, the Karnataka prisons department will soon be writing to the Tamil Nadu police to check on the health condition of her husband M. Natarajan.

Sasikala, who is currently serving her sentence in a Bengaluru prison after her conviction in the disproportionate assets case, had applied for parole to meet her ailing husband, who is awaiting organs for transplant at the Gleneagles Global Hospital in Chennai.

Sources from the Karnataka prisons department said that they have asked for legal opinion pertaining to the parole. “Once we get a nod, we will be writing to the Tamil Nadu police to check on the health of Mr. Natarajan and to confirm whether the reasons cited by her for obtaining parole is true,” said an officer.

Sources also said that the police will also be writing about the security that needs to be provided to Sasikala once she leaves Bengaluru and reaches Tamil Nadu. “We have to ensure her safety. Issues pertaining to her security will also be communicated to the Tamil Nadu police,” added the officer.

Meanwhile, AIADMK Karnataka State secretary and T.T.V Dinakaran loyalist V. Pugazhendi said that the Prison Manual provided for granting of parole once someone who is undergoing simple imprisonment completes six months.

Sources from the T.T.V. Dhinakaran faction said that if Sasikala gets parole, she will be heading to Chennai mostly by road. “As she has applied for parole to meet her ailing husband, she will be spending most of the time with him in the hospital,” said a source.
