GHAZIABAD: In response to a petition, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Wednesday stated that it has appointed a consultant to mitigate the sewage overflow problem of Ahimsa Khand 2 in Indirapuram. The GDA also informed the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that Rs 10 lakh has been allocated for resolving the sewage and drainage overflow in the residential area.
The information was furnished through a counter-affidavit in response to a petition filed by the Federation of Apartment Owners Association (FedAOA) alleging laxity by the GDA in properly handling the sewage overflow in Indirapuram. The federation had filed the petition in September.
According to GDA, Rs 10 lakh had been sanctioned in March 2016 following a meeting held with the federation to chalk out measures for resolving the sewage overflow issue in Indirapuram.
In response to allegations levelled by the federation, the GDA informed the tribunal that out of 30 housing societies in Ahimsa Khand 2, only three have deposited the entire amount due in terms of charges for maintenance of sewer pipelines and the STP in Indirapuram. The GDA is yet to receive an amount of over Rs 7.80 crore from the remaining 27 societies. It has further informed that GMC has not taken over civic maintenance of Indirapuram despite several requests since 2011.
