A Class XII student was Monday run over by a train in Shahdara while he was allegedly taking photographs with his friends, police said. The family, however, suspects foulplay as his mobile phone is missing.

The matter came to light around 2.30 pm Monday, when the family of Arbaz Khan, 18, was informed about the incident. They rushed to GTB Hospital, where doctors had declared Khan brought dead.

“His friend Sulem told me that my son met with an accident. When I reached to the hospital, he was dead,” Khan’s father Haseen Ahmed said. According to police, Sulem said Khan had called him to the tracks “to click some pictures”. An officer, quoting an eyewitness, also said the boys were clicking photographs at the time of the incident.

His father claimed, “My son had borrowed a DSLR camera from my friend for my daughter’s wedding. But his phone is missing, so we suspect something is amiss.”
