Celebrities from across the globe expressed their shock, sadness and anger following the mass shooting at a Las Vegas country music festival, where people had poured in from the United States and abroad, on Monday.

American pop rock band Maroon 5’s frontman, Adam Levine was one of the first celebrities to express his shock. “The country is crying over the horrific tragedy and heartbreak in Vegas. Prayers to all the families and loved ones of those who were lost. Prayers for healing,” he wrote.

The shooting took place at an outdoor music festival right when the night’s headliner Jason Aldean was performing. The musician, too, posted on Instagram and confirmed that he was safe. “Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that my crew and I are safe. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy ­— what should have been ­­— a fun night,” he wrote.

Over the last 24 hrs I have gone through lots of emotions. Scared, Anger, Heartache, Compassion and many others. I truely dont understand why a person would want to take the life of another. Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see. This world is becoming the kind of place i am afraid to raise my children in. At the end of the day we arent Democrats or Republicans, Whites or Blacks, Men or Women. We are all humans and we are all Americans and its time to start acting like it and stand together as ONE! That is the only way we will ever get this Country to be better than it has ever been, but we have a long way to go and we have to start now. My heart aches for the Victims and their families of this Senseless act. I am so sorry for the hurt and pain everyone is feeling right now and there are no words i can say to to take that pain away. According to the latest reports at least 59 people have been killed and more than 500 have been wounded. A lot of celebs couldn’t keep up with the rising death count. “Oh God. Vegas. WTF is happening. Can’t keep up with all the pain this country is facing. Sending love to Vegas,” actor-comedian Bob Saget tweeted.

TV talk show host Ellen Degeneres posted a picture of a heart on Instagram and urged everyone to love one another. “Care. Love. Be outraged. Be devastated. Just don’t give up. The world needs good humans today,” she reiterated the same on her talk show and sported a pink coloured sweater with a heart on it.

Actor Mandy Moore, too, wrote a similar thing on her social media account. “All the love in the world to the victims, their loved ones, the first responders and all those affected by this unimaginable and senseless tragedy.” Actor Neil Patrick Harris wrote, “I can’t wrap my head around the atrocity in Vegas. Sending my heart and deepest regrets to the families and friends affected.”
