Man shot dead in encounter in Greater Noida

A 27-year-old man, accused in several cases of extortion and robbery, was shot dead in a police encounter in Greater Noida’s Chi-4 area late Tuesday night. A police sub-inspector, who is also the chowki in-charge at Pari Chowk, received a bullet injury in the exchange of fire.

According to police, Sumit Gurjar (27) and three of his associates exchanged several rounds of fire with the police team for over an hour in Greater Noida on Tuesday evening.

“While Gurjar was shot dead, his associates managed to flee. Gurjar was an accused in several cases of robbery and extortion,” an officer said.
