End ONGC ops: Grama sabha

THANJAVUR : The  Grama Sabha meeting held in Kathiramangalam on Monday passed a resolution demanding immediately stoppage of exploration activities by ONGC in the village. The people of the village who have been continuously protesting from June 30 when the ONGC pipe developed leakage and the crude spill into the near by paddy fields, on Monday participated in the Grama Sabha meeting held at Village panchayat office. Chandrasekaran, the Special officer of Tiruppanandal block presided over the meeting. The villagers passed a resolution demanding the stoppage of the operations of ONGC to safeguard the soil health of the village. In another resolution the Grama sabha wanted withdrawal of cases on all those who protested on June 30.
