Sadly, the update doesn't solve the potential BlueBorne vulnerability. The fix for this security flaw was incorporated by Google in the September 2017 security patch. So if you own a Motorola Moto G5 Plus, you have to wait for a while to receive the Android security patch for September. Having said that, the latest update does improve the security of the phone.

What's more, the update adds necessary enhancements to the emergency calling functionality and improvements to the overall system stability.

There are two ways to download and install the update. You can wait for the notification to come stating that update is ready to get installed. Then you can click "Yes, I'm in" to start downloading the software package. After it is done, you would have to tap on the "Install now" option for restarting your device and complete the installation process.

However, if you are one of those impatient kinds, you can check for the update manually. All you need to do is go to the phone settings and click on the About Phone tab and after clicking at the bottom you will find the System updates icon. You can click on that and check for updates.

Needless to say, make sure your phone has sufficient charge (at least 50 %) before proceeding with the installation process. Also, you should use Wi-Fi network instead of mobile data. Lastly, the files and images stored in your Moto G5 Plus should be backed up for preventing data loss.
