International workshop under GIAN Phase-II programme begins at PU

The workshop will help the participants to comprehend the application of this special chemistry of X-rays and structure elucidation. He encouraged the participants to grasp the knowledge to be disseminated in this workshop.

The second international workshop, under GIAN Phase-II programme commenced on Tuesday at Panjab University, with the theme “X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy: Materials inside- Analysis Tool”. In the morning session, Professor S K Mehta, local coordinator, GIAN, highlighted the major objectives of the programme.

Professor Arun K Grover, Vice Chancellor, PU, as the Chief Patron spoke about the genesis of GIAN programme, and motivated the young participants to follow the footprints of the legends and to march ahead for higher echelons in their research objectives for inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research activities at national and international level.

Delivering the inaugural address Professor Igor Asanov, SB RAS Novosibirsk, Russia as the Chief Guest, gave a short lecture on the distinct characteristics and vital properties of fluoridated graphene. Professor Navdeep Goyal, Chairperson, department of Physics, course coordinator welcomed the audience and familiarised them with the credentials of the principal resource person and highlighted the major objectives of the course. The workshop will help the participants to comprehend the application of this special chemistry of X-rays and structure elucidation. He encouraged the participants to grasp the knowledge to be disseminated in this workshop.

Dr Sanjeev Gautam, from University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET), Panjab University, and the course coordinator highlighted the contents of the course during next six days.
