PEDDAPALLI:IN a horrific road accident, five persons, including two children, were killed and three injured when two cars collided at Andugulapalli on Rajiv Rahadari about 8 kms from district headquarters on Monday morning.Peddapalli Circle Inspector Edla Mahesh said a Vista car moving towards Basanthnagar from Peddapalli, crashed into a Verna car moving in the opposite direction at Andugulapalli.
The Verna was driving from Khagaznagar in Kumarambheem district. The driver of the Vista car drove into the divider. The car flipped over on to the other side of the road and hit the Verna. Due to the impact of the crash, three persons died on the spot while another two died after they were shifted to a Karimnagar hospital. The deceased were identified as Md Azeem (35), his wife Harshiya (30) and Harfa (1) who died on the spot. Mehavish (5) and Azeem’s sister-in-law Hafreen (25) died in the hospital hospital. Md Nazeer and another person were admitted to the hospital with injuries.
Azeem and Nazeer hailed from to Khagaznagar and had settled in Karimnagar where they were running a battery repair and sales shop at Kaman area. They had gone to their home town for Muhharam and were returning to Karimnagar when the accident occurred. The front portion of the car in which Azeem’s family was travelling car was completely damaged. The Vista landed in the fields by the road. Peddapalli police registered a case against one Venkat Reddy, who was driving the Verna. Reddy was a security guard in a Basanthnagar cement company. He was seriously injured in the accident and was shifted to a Hyderabad hospital.Mahesh said that it was possible that Reddy had either been hungover or sleepy when he was driving. This may have led to the accident, he said.
