Aadhaar card is must-have document for all Indian citizens. Even as the Supreme Court is hearing pleas relate to it, it has been made compulsory to link your Aadhaar with bank account, PAN card (for I-T returns filing, and even with your mobile sim card, apart from its usage for social schemes. If a person doesn’t have a 12-digit Unique Identification Number (UID) issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India, he must get it now.
The reason government has extended the deadlines related to linking is because many people still don’t have Aadhaar card with them and there are some changes to be made in the card.
So here are the four important deadlines that you should remember, to link your Aadhaar with various documents.
Link PAN with your Aadhaar card to file Income-Tax returns
Last date to link your Aadhaar card with PAN is December 31, 2017. Earlier, the deadline was August 31, 2017. Linking of Aadhaar with PAN is mandatory for processing of ITRs for assessment year 2017-18.
Date to give Aadhaar details to avail social security schemes
Aadhaar number has to be provided for availing of all social security schemes by December 31, 2017. In order to avail pension, LPG cylinders or government scholarships, one must provide his or her Aadhaar card details.
Link Adhaar card with bank account
Existing bank account holders have been asked to furnish the Aadhaar number issued by the UIDAI by December 31, 2017.
Deadline for linking Aadhaar with mobile number
Telecom companies such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have been sending alerts to customers about completing the Aadhaar-SIM link and the last date is February 6, 2018.
