Several roads inundated, vehicular movement hit

Heavy rain lashed parts of the city on Monday evening exposing the bad roads and poor drainage system, once again. Roads in One Town and other western areas of the city were inundated following the downpour, which was brief though.

Motorists and pedestrians were stranded in many areas due to inundation of roads and a failed drainage system that could not empty the accumulated storm water.

Ironically, in most of the areas, drainage lines were repaired and roads refurbished recently.

In areas like Gunadala, Autonagar, Patamata, Moghalrajpuram and some other eastern parts of the city the rainfall was moderate. Still, water stagnated on many roads giving trouble to motorists.

Relief for citizens

On the other hand, the rain brought relief from the muggy weather conditions the city had witnessed during the past few days. The weatherman has predicted light and moderate rainfall in the city during the coming week. The maximum temperature in the city on Monday was 33.1 degrees Celsius, which was one degree more than the normal temperature.

According to IMD, the city received a rainfall of 4.8 mm on Monday.
