HYDERABAD: Incessant rainfall that lasted for a few hours in the city on Monday evening literally brought the city to its knees. Inundated roads and fallen trees along with heavy rainfall brought vehicular traffic to a standstill. Thanks to the city’s roads descending into a complete state of chaos due to flooding, people were left stranded for hours trying to reach their destination.

Water-logging was reported in almost all important traffic junctions in the city. Many roads got flooded by rain water, thanks to storm water drains being either non-existent along the roads, encroached or being incapable of handling the volume of flood waters. In certain places, denizens complained of manholes being left open, posing grave threat to public. As roads got flooded and vehicles got inundated in 2-3 feet deep water, people faced the trouble of their vehicles coming to a standstill in the middle of the road. Many motorists could be seen on roads pushing their vehicles trying to wade their way through the water and traffic towards end of the road.

In Osmangunj, the road was inundated till 3-4 feet deep in water forcing the traffic police to divert traffic. Water logging was also reported from Ranigunj, Darussalam, Gulzar house, Putlibowli, Basheerbagh, Himayatnagar, Malakpet  and other areas.
